In these shots you will see that I have a healthy outbreak of diatoms. Its all part of the new tank process. Have never started a new tank and not had them. All that's left to do is build the cabinetry around the tank to close it in and then stock it!!!

And some more pictures:

Rodstar, quick question. How efficient is the locline running along your return? With nothing to force the water to use the returns before the last one do they have any pressure coming out?

great thread, what kind of support are the lights placed on? T track ? a link would be greatly appreciated.

Nice job. Love the rock work and the lighting. Are you going to do like a floating canopy?

No, I am planning to build a "wall" around the tank so its an in-wall, except it won't really be a wall but more like multiple cabinet doors so I can access the tank from the front.

So, the lights are a combination. I am using the new EXT rail system that joins the LED modules together and the EXT hanging kits. However, the ceiling tiles are not strong enough to support the weight. So, I bought 2 8 foot long L pieces (like they use on garage doors) an put them in the ceiling. It looks like they are mounted to the ceiling tiles, but they are actually moounted to the brackets above the tiles. Those brackets are just sitting(resting) on the ceiling tile frames.

Well, Sandy is close. I have yet to use the generator but I think I will get a chance today.

The generator is 10,000w and among other things it will be powering 2 of the 4 20 amp circuits in the fish room.

This should be enough to keep the main circulation pumps running, the lights, 2 of the 4 vortechs, CA reactor, auto-top off and continuous water change and a heater.

The other 2 vortechs are on standard Ecotech battery backups.

Lights and water movement will be off on the refugium and the other tank. But, water will move through them because the circulation pumps are on the generator.

I think we are safe here, but I think its a foregone conclusion that we will lose power.

Its getting very windy here and the rain is not insignificant at this point and I am 30 miles due west of Philly.

Thanks! How ironic that you are in Florida and you are wishing me luck in PA.

Its just one of those situations that when we go through it here you don't want anyone else to have the same demise. Especially when its family and a large reef tank like yours. Glad you just got the wind and maybe rain.

We were lucky and spared the brunt of the storm. A little flooding here and lots of wind, but we only lost power for 30 seconds at a time.

So, the tank is well. I DO need to post an update but I am running from meeting to meeting today, so I will try to do it later.

Wow, what a build. You you told me last night that it was big and you had a fish room. I had to check it out. Man, I want to be like you when i grow up. You are living my deam.

Good Luck with all those frags.

Thanks, Dude!!!! The frags were dipped and put in the tank last night, took me a couple hours! And, I was doing most of it under moonlight, so I don't know how they look yet. I can't wait to get home and check them out tonight!!!

And, your tank is awesome! I really appreciate the frags and loved staring at your tank!!!!
