hey,the skimmer has been working great, all of a sudden i started seeing alot of microbubbles,so i went into sump and the whole skimmer tube is filled w bubbley water when i lifted skimmer cup it overflowed ,usually takes a while to draw bubbles,so i thoroughly cleaned it and i put it in and it immediatley starts rising in the tube to skim cup,but just like water rising ? and tons of micro bubbles coming out of return ? pump is working ,but something is wrong , ????

Most likely culprit is an additive or new filter media, did you add anything or use new floss or an ion exchange resin?

No its mechanical, the skimmer is now sucking in water kike crazy,u had the screw the blue one totally out and, now I put it back in and screwed it in almost completely and it slowed it down? Like the whole clear tube is filled w water, use to be just foam?

In other words when u put the screw back in the water in the glass tube receded, but ive had this a long tine, nothing has changed about my system,

Is the blue sponge over the top of the pipe, the top of the sponge should be even or below the top of the pipe? Is the elbow pushed into the body too far (unlikely, as this should generally not be possible)? Is the pipe pulled out from the elbow (not pressed in to the elbow all the way)?

I would also check the pump, perhaps something is caught on the impeller making it larger and so it moves more water, algae for example.

ok,the pipe is in right, foam is right,i see whats happening, the pump is drawing too much water into the skimmer cup tube, but barely any water is coming out the return pipe, and there are tons of micro bubble coming from return pump, like when i turn it on before it would take a while to get foam into the tube, now it just fills it right up ,but not skimming, and not too much from return pump

The pump really should only be able to do 3600 rpm, so it cannot go faster for example, this is set by the mains frequency of 60Hz and doesn't vary. Causes have to limited to something added to the tank affecting surface tension and a big water change can do this. A problem with the stand pipe, maybe it is plugged by some foreign object. Or, something caught on the impeller making it larger. If the small relief hole in the back of the skimmer is plugged, water can back up into the cup and air intake, that might be another cause. But essentially, the water must not be draining as fast as it is being pumped in and their are not many things that can cause that since the pump could not suddenly pump more or run faster short of a foreign object on the blades.

nothing has changed on my tank in those regards in several years ,im at a loss, the one plastic tube in the pump i pulled out it was glued in ? im gonna re check for objects

Also check the hole in the back, it is a roughly 1/4" hole, if it gets plugged by algae, etc, that can cause this, it is about 1/4th of the way down from the cup, usually partially concealed by the magnet holder if that is installed, you may need to remove the magnet holder to check it.

ok ,i rechecked everything, unless im missing a small part, it is way louder when it starts now too, is their a diagram or something i can see, its got to be something inside the plastic skimmer , im at a loss and i need this to be working , maybe a hose is bad , the return water out the back seems to be coming out higher than normal,i cant use it at all rught now, need a diagram to make sure nothing is missing

if the two different things inside the black box,the one is a tube that the pump slides into and the other is the clear thin tube is bad ? the booklet doesnt show those items ,something is making the pump fill the tube instead of skim, now when i put the blue screw in ,it calms it down, but i havent used that in years ?

im guessing its one of the plastic parts and not the pump, its not running faster, something is wrong internally in the black box,can i verbally talk w someone , i really need this to work,it was expensive,i cant replace it

The clear pipe the pump inserts in is the jet pipe, the other tube is the silencer. This attaches from the underside of the blue screw attachment and runs down to the pump, it acts like muffler and silences the air noise. It can fill with water if cracked or punctured or the end cap has been pulled off. The best way to check this is to remove the pump, remove the blue screw, pinch you fingers over the blue screw and the hole opposite of it that is under the cup (just on the other side of the plastic from the blue screw) and then blow through the tube that attached to the pump nozzle. If it holds pressure, i.e. you look like Dizzy Gillespie trying to blow into it, the silencer has no leaks. In that case the issue again is the water drain or depth of submersion and water is backing up to that hole behind the blue screw so water is sucked in instead of air.

So if the bigger plastic tube that has like the black hose has water in it, then its bad, thats why ut is filling w water ?
