Roger, need info on night mode

A while back you explained why a "night mode" was good for your tank. I know you stated that some of the currents were caused by wind and that the sun fueled that, so naturally at night, it was calmer. you also stated that it helped give zooplankton a chance to rise. Anyway, would you be able to repeat all that info and provide some links? I was trying to make a point, but I cannot find anything that backs that info up! I checked out NOAA, too! Thanks!

Plankton rises at night, you can see this at the coast in many locations, most spawning events also occur at night. The low current enables the animals to feed off this plankton. At night the tide is high, at high tide the seas are generally calmer in shallow areas because there are less obstacles and the winds due generally diminish at night. I am not a biologist but these points are discussed in books, especially the Modern Coral Reef Series. These are also observations I have made on my own on numerous fishing trips and having grown up only about 60 miles inland.
