Rogers Reef Food...

So i've been reading all the hype about Rogers reef food. So, I splurged on behalf of the fish and bought $100 worth of the Reef Blend.

So it finally arrives after like 10 days and I put the food in the tank and not a single fish ate it!!! I was friggin ****ed!

At first, i thawed it in water and dumped it in. Well the stuff kinda stuck together like a sheet and they just washed away in the tank with no fish going after it. So then I put a chunk in the netting and stuck it into the tank like I do nori. NOBODY ate it. It just sat there in the water with the fish looking at me like..."arn't you going to feed us???"

So, does anyone use this stuff? What am I doing wrong here???

I had the same experience for the first little while. Basically, you need one fish to start eating it, and then the others will try it and love it. None of my fish would touch it, until I bought a new bicolor angel - it started pecking away at the Roggers food, and now all my fish devour it in a feeding frenzy.

If you are not planning on adding new fish to get things started, you could make your fish hungry by not feeding them for a day or so, and then put some roggers food in the tank (I would avoid using the netting at first - nets tend to make most fish shy). If the fish are hungry they should attack the stuff, and they will learn fast.

Ryan, I use it and love it. It takes a few days for the fish to start eating it but once they do they go nuts over it. The good thing about it over other foods is that it doesnt dissintegrate away but instead will sit in the mesh for hours and allows fish to eat from it over time without polluting the tank. The way I did it was I put in a mesh hanging off the clip with other food so the fish get a taste of it then take the other food away slowly. Ryan, stick with it your fish are gonna look awesome. My idol destroys it and he looks amazing!

I chopped my mix of the orange and green up frozen and pour it in above a vortech and all my fish (clowns, angels, butterflies, tangs, cardinals, anthias, wrasses, etc) sell their souls to get a piece.

fwiw I feed rods a few days a week too..

What frozen foods have you been feeding before?

Oh ok...

I feed thera A+ pellets all day long and at night I feed mysis, spirulina brine, and angel and butterfly food... all soaked in garlic, vita chem and selcon...

Some of fish also took a few feedings before they realized that it was indeed food. Now they will jump out of the tank to get a piece it seems.

I think it's well worth the money...I can make good quality food cheaper but it takes way more time and my consistency isn't as good as his is.

I have been using it and ALL y fish love it. It takes them a couple of days to get the "taste" of it, but once they do...damn they love it. I even have a candy bass that eats it OFF MY FINGERS!!!!!!!
Honestly, BEST FOOD BAR NONE

Ryan first of all sorry about you loosing your conspic! Just peeked at your thread.

As far as the food yes it takes fish a while to get used to the mesh hanging there, but the best part about this food is the consistency, meaning I leave a chunk in the morning inside my mesh and fish come by and eat all day.

Perfect examples of finnicky eaters-- blue face 4 days/moorish idol 3 days/Coperband 5 days.

Only food that goes into my tank for the last year.

Ryan,

Glad to hear the conspic is doing fine and a beautiful tank and collection you have.

It took my fishes a while to figure out it was food. Go figure. I tried feeding them for almost 10 days with no bites no I put it away for a while but I bought 10 packs (5 reg and 5 plus) so I've to figure out how to get them eating it. When the triggers are not eating there's something wrong. I even pour the juice in to entice but no luck but all of a sudden one started to eat then the rest went. Now I even feed my 2 rbta with it and they seem to like it. I look at it as a treat for them so I feed 3X a week. Just keep plugging away and I'm confident the fishes will eventually love it.

My fish absolutely love Roggers food. I bought mine from WWC and asked them how they feed it and I have never had a problem. I break off a chunk and put it in a dish and let it thaw out (it stinks to high heaven). Once it is all thawed out I mash it up with a spoon. I then add it to the tank using the spoon to swish it around to break it up a little bit. The fish go absolutely crazy for this stuff.
