I got a very small orange bubble tip rose anemone... I think thats what it is called.

I put him in and he crawled behind the rocks and is on the back side of the tank, he looks healthy but I can not see him, is it ok to move him or will he come out?

he has light back there but i would like to be able to see him.

he is very small, he just split about 3 weeks ago from the mother.

Generally it is a good idea to feed BTAs, in my opinion. They like small pieces of silverside, shrimp, squid, scallop, etc. Just make sure you start with a very small piece, since your anemones are small, maybe the size of a small pea. Also, it seems that fresh seafood is preferred to that that's been in the freezer for a long time.

As far as moving it, I would let it be if it has good light on it. In time when it's bigger and all healed from the splitting, then perhaps you can move it if it's still in a location where it is difficult to view it.

lol, i meant he is healthy but i can not see him from the front, i have to bend my neck and get behind the tank and look in from the back.

how do i feed him? is it too early to feed him since he just split.

Since it split 3 weeks ago, it should be healed up enough now to take a small piece of food. You might try with a small piece of silverside for starters, BTAs tend to like that food. If you have feeding tongs or a feeding stick, you can use that, or if it's too hard to reach you can just wash your hand/arm thoroughly and put the food into the tentacles with your fingers.

If it doesnt take whole food, soak some mysis in some selcon or zoecon , let it dissolve then take a bulb syrine and just squirt it his way. He will take it in.

i have had great results with no feeding using MH lighting and feed every 3 months with t5 or cf lights. started with one about 5 years ago and have given, sold and traded about 14 splits. i have about 7 in my tank now. (red rose)
ps they split sooner if fed monthly.

I usually feed mine prime reef, it holds together. I use tongs for that, if the anemone doesn't grab it I pull it out. Once in awhile I feed pellets, I take a lift tube and point the end above it and drop them in.

do you feel you absolutely have to target feed them?
