Rose anemone

If your lights are bright enough they will live off that plus the detrtitus in your water column. However you will get more frequent splits if you feed them often, like twice a week. They do best IMO on mysis and/or small pieces of scallops.

I used to feed mine every other day and it never split for over 3 years and in 8 years I still had only 3 when I tore down my tank.

The 2 I started with this time only get fed once a week and one split after a couple months.

Yes, RBTAs appreciate feeding. I used to feed mine defrosted krill at least once a week.

If you want to encourage splits, I've found that infrequent water changes, along with adequate feeding, seems to do the trick. What I mean is, if you are currently doing weekly water changes, wait and do one in 6 weeks. If you don't get a split, wait a month before doing another water change. Make sure you are feeding meaty food once a week throughout.

I found that I used to get fairly regular splits when I was feeding and doing weekly water changes, but when I slacked off and did a water change once a month (or less), I suddenly had a higher number of splits (within a day of the water change).

Also, I definitely have less splits, now that I'm not target feeding the clones.

HTH,
Kevin
