My rose BTA usually reduces size and excretes a clear white mucus a day after eating. lately its been excretes a brown mucus everyday while staying the small size, it rarely is big like it used to be.

Everything else in my tank is doing fine the green galaxia, mushrooms, clam, livestock. feather dusters etc.

Any ideas

Marty, does your anemone have flow over it to keep junk from falling on it? What you may be seeing is it trying to get rid of stuff that has fallen onto it.
Up the flow over your anemone and see if it will help it to stay cleaner.
Sloughing off may be a way to get rid of junk on top of it as they can't shake like a dog.
Try blowing it off with a soft squirt of a turkey baster to see if that helps if you can't up the flow to it.

there is alot of flow over her. the RBTA is moved around every few seconds. I dont think i mention that its tentacles are never full of water and look mini.

Sounds like it is stressed and may be exhuding its zooxanthellae. What is the water pH? Has there been a major pH shift recently (large water change, buffering chemicals, addition of kalkwasser, etc)?

ph is 8.4. my anemone is back open but doesnt have any tentacles only little nubs. Any suggestions my bta used to look beautiful

I think it threw-up its zoox.

Start feeding every other day.

With a 37g, it's hard to maintain stability - especially salinity through evaporation - if you don't have an auto top off, add top off water in the moring and evening.

Check you other paramiters too, nitrite and nitrate

But basically, I think it threw-up its zoox so it needs to be feed for a while to if re-establises the zoox
