im going to be setting up a gfo just wondered what people are using iv'e brought rowa and pearls which one is best?

Rowa phos is GFO Bio pearls is a form of carbon dosing. If you want to run GFO it would be the Rowa phos.

Bio pearls is the same thing as bio pellets. If your tank is full of coral I would recommend against adding bio pellets due to the massive nutrient swing that will occur. It could cause a massive die off of coral. If your starting this on a new tank it wont be a problem.

If you do have coral and want to use the bio pellets start with half the recommended dosage and work up from there... slowly. Bio pellets will remove phosphate but its a slower process than GFO its mainly for lowering nitrates.

yeah sorry i should of said to use in a reactor, still learning. iv'e put some rowaphos in a filter sock as it comes into the sump just until i get a reactor. nothing like keeping cichlids that was so easy.

If your gonna use bio pellets be sure to get a good reactor that they will constantly tumble in. A cheep BRS reactor isn't good enough. Avast sells a good reactor that's cheap. Also look at the MR reactors from Nextreef. I would get a reactor for both.
