Rowaphos media always become harden in phosban reactor

how come Rowaphos media always become harden in phosban reactor?

how fludised should it be ?

can i remove the sponge from the bottom of the unit as it kept getting stuck there.

pls help

I have not had that problem since I switched to Warner Marine PhosAR.

you just need to increase the flow through the reactor. you should be able to see the media tumbling at the surface, but not so much that its shooting up into the water like a fountain. I use a minijet 400 with a ball valve to control the flow in mine. I also, btw, have found no difference between the "name brand" GFO and the GFO i get from www.bulkreefsupply.com for a whole lot less $$$
