Interesting. Too me, a knife is must have. Even in "parks" I've seen fishing line tangled up in the reef.

That last report I had from anyone on a cruise regarding a knife was that they are permissible. You had to check it getting on the ship. Then when it came time to dive they were given their knives. I think that was Carnival though.
