RR jaw dropper

I definitely would like a frag. I was trying to get a few people to go in together and do a grow out but I don't know what it takes to bring coral in from Canada. Is it costly? Does the coral come next day?

Lol not quite the next day... or the day after. They have to acquire CITES permits to send SPS to US. Call RR Canada.

Again.... I already posted the grown out mother colony that has been in captivity for about a year and a half, look back in thread. Don't hate.

So are you refuting that these frags are coming from a wild colony? I don't really care how long it has been in captivity... I've had maricultured and wild colonies in captivvity for that long and the frags still grow out to look like something quite different from the mother colony. One of the advantages of named and high priced SPS in years past was that they were captive grown and that they were known to keep their color if conditions were good. Sadly, those things have been lost on many of the new places that are trying to make a name for themselves in the SPS game nowadays.

Yeah, I agree...they just throw ridiculous names on wild/mari and ask for an arm and a leg. I wouldn't mind if it was actually in captivity for over a year. Battlecorals and Rockymountainfrags are some of the more respectable vendors, they actually keep wild/mari pieces in captivity for a while before releasing with a name.

Like I stated earlier in the thread it was a wild acquired colony that has been in captivity for around a year and a half and has proven to be hardy and to be able to keep its colour in higher skilled sps keepers systems:dance:

LOL Reef Raft has been around for over 15 years and half of Steve Tyrees corals originate from them

My two cents for what it's worth (probably not much ;) )

My two cents for what it's worth (probably not much ;) )

Believe it or not....I just found this thread. I generally post on LPS and Anemone topics here on RC; since that is where my main interest lies with respect to this hobby.

I'm not new to this forum and while my posts may be modest in terms of quantity and breadth to various bodies of knowledge here; it's safe to say that I am not a 'new' post contributor or some perceived imposter with a hidden agenda. I encourage others to view my previous posting history and profile. Some members here have even contacted me privately to discuss the validity of its existence, true colours and availability. I don't currently have a yearning or need to acquire this particular SPS. I have nothing to lose nor gain by stating:

The pictures and comments posted by M007, RKLion, and Hydrologist are quite accurate. I have seen various frags, pieces that have grown out, and the colony over an extended period of time. I've seen the 'original' frags and frags that have grown. The colours are rich and vibrant - including the blue tips. The beauty of this coral can be well appreciated even under daylight conditions; not just blue actinics.

Not one of these individuals, Jay, or Reef Raft Canada asked me to post here. While I have come across each of these members during my pursuit of this hobby; I can also attest that we're not best of friends nor are we adversaries. Just very passionate hobbyists.

After reading through the pages of this thread; I felt compelled to respond and add my thoughts to allay the fears of skeptics.

This thread has turned into a justification of credentials, and keeping the hype going. Sure wish the MODS would move this to the appropriate dealer thread or selling thread.
Done with this nonsense.

Also did mods not notice the reference to sales from this thread?!?!
Amazing they can flip $500+ frags but cannot pay sponsor fee??? They were already locked on another forum
For the sake of the reefers who purchased..I hope(?seller?) had a different mentality in regards to CITES (my guess is lack there of)

Also a friendly reminder for other reefers:
When shipping living SPS from Can to US w/o CITES is prosecuted as "illegal importation of endangered species" (US Fish & Wildlife website) which carries same penalty as drug trafficking...and as soon as you sign you are just as liable as the shipper for receiving an illegal endangered species. Remember you live in US so only US laws apply...not Canada's (that is further down the chain of charges when US is done nailing you)

I have had a piece of this for approx 4 months now if memory serves. It has pooled out a bit but no real growth at all. Will try to snap a pic for you . MIne has gotten rotund and does not have large spikes

Mine has really great colour that is impossible for me to get right on my camera and little to no polyp extension

Wish it would grow, for now I do not touch it and am just letting it decide what it wants to do

Dwayne

Take another look at the thread. Pat only reposted the swap organizers post of photos that RR was bringing. A kind jesture to help promote the swap. Its funny too. True wholesalers dont sell to end users so what gain do they get from doing something like this

I dont see how anyone was selling corals here. Someone simply posted a pic of a coral like anyone else here. Its the same as if you posted pics with "battle coral blah blah" or "tyree hokuspokus" as the header.

Between this and the 1500 dollar shroom they sold I think I'll enjoy my poor man corals for a while, it's hard to believe this thread has gotten this far.

Well then it would be nice if some of these people that have proven it to be hardy and have been able to keep the color would post some pics. Otherwise this whole thread just feels like a bunch of hype.

Maybe you could let the mods know who is forcing you to open this thread over and over too?
