RR TECH tanks? /Oceanic questions.

What is quality of RR Tech aquariums? Are they made by Oceanic? Are they starphire glass?

I have AGA 55 now, what differences would I see between the 55 AGA and say a 120 RR Tech?

Thank you for any help and information.

They have a starphire front panel, nicer overflow that is a bit wider and thin against the back wall. They do not have a centerbrace, they are euro-bracaed.

Pretty nice IMO.

What is euro-braced?

Instead of having a center brace with can block light, their is a black frame about 1.5" wide aroudn the rim of the tank that supports the panels of the tank.

Here is mine 120g Oceanic Tech Series Tank and Stand.

120G oceanic Tech Tank. 4x2x2, 3 sides of starphire, and euro bracing....

AGA bought out the previous Oceanic..now known as Oceanic Systems....when looking at identical tanks....when looking at AGA RR you look at about 50 bucks or more less than the Oceanic RR version of the same.....look at their websites..same company two versions of quality (one with cheap look good quality...one with amazing look with just good quality)...Same tank..all marketablitliy!

yeah, AGA has owned them for a while. I prefer oceanic tanks over AGA tanks because of the looks, mainly the seams. There isn't an AGA version of the tech tank though. The tech tanks have 3 sides of starphire, black backgrounds, and black silicone, and beveled edges on the corners of the glass. The quality is really good. It's the best tank I have ever owned, and I have had both AGA, and Oceanic tanks before.

I'm pretty sure only the front panel is starphire.

Its 3 side starfire, at least that is what i was told when i ordered mine, it should be here monday!!!

I have my oceanic price list in front of me and this is the list of features:
Starphire Glass Fronts
Non Tempered Glass Bottoms
Beveled Front Glass
Precision Polished Edges
Lifetime Warranty
Unobstructed top openings
Large front cabinet doors
Large side cabinet doors
Factory installed black background

Sorry guys... if someone told you 3 sides were starphire they were either confused or hopefully not lieing!

well I am pretty sure the new oceanic brochure stated it had 3 sides of starphire.... Since there is no info online about the tank, and since it's sitting empty next to me, and I can not tell any difference between the sides, and the front panel, I am inclined to think it is 3 sides of starphire... Not a big deal from me, as the tank will only really be viewable from 1 side.

anyone with a pricelist care to tell me the price of the 37g and 58g RR tanks in this series?

They do not make these sizes in the Tech Tank. they do make 58 n the new "Ultimate" version which does have some of the same features such as starphire front glass, non tempered bottom, polished edges, lifetime warranty, but they do not have the euro-bracing and black background.

I have the oceanic brochure and it says3 sides of starphire.
FWIW, Great looking tank. expensive, but nice :)

100% 3 sides are starphire

i talked with oceanic 3 times before buying my tek tank and they confirmed all 3 times they are starphire on 3 sides.

If you don't mind me asking Larry, how much did you spent on the tank and stand? Seeing those pics has me scheming about the exact same setup; absolutely gorgeous.

ok i officially hate oceanic now. i jsut called a fourth time and talked to someone in tech support and now they said only the front is starphire.

arrrrrgh
