RSM130 - 34g for NPS ? Good or bad idea ?

Hi there,

Have a small tank - Red Sea Max 130D, which is 34g / 130 liters.

Would like to convert it slowly to a NPS tank, perhaps with some xenia and low fish stock.

I upgraded two major things at the moment :

Tunze Eletronic pump ( can't remember the model, its quite old now but costed me a fortune in the days - beats a Vortech 20 by a mile, got pulse, etc etc )

Tunze 9002 skimmer.

Also got a Aquatronica Controller with all the goodies...

Now, my fear is that NPS corals, with its costant feeding ( got the 3 peralistic pumps in the aquatronica, not using them atm ) will create a nitrate spike and will be hard to get rid of...

The idea would be to have the liquid foods and change them each week, having them dosed to the tank every 3 or 4 times during the day ( 1-2 ml ? ) and also at that time turn off the circulation pumps that pull the water to the back sump, keeping only the tunze to flow the water in the tank.

Good idea ? bad idea ? Tank too small for nps corals ?

Within NPS or azooxanthellae corals there is a wide range of requirements. What exactly do you plan to keep? I don't think your tank is too small. A small tank could be even easier than a large one for feeding and water changes.

to be honest, I would be thrilled if I could have a couple of gorgonians, a forest of sun corals ( branching, "normal" and black suns and a couple of dendronephteas.. would like to start with the easy ones to start with - and then move up
