RTN please help.

I noticed a few days ago that my white acropora colony was not looking its best. I tested the water and changed the flow a little to see if there would be any change in its attitude. Then, over the next few days three of my colonies were showing the same problems. In spots on the colonies all the color and tissue is completely gone. I inspected all the colonies very closely for any signs of pests and found none. I believe, from what I have read, that I have Rapid Tissue Necrosis. What can I do to try and save these corals. Any and all help will be much appreciated. These corals have been in my tank for about 3 weeks.

Ok. That's what I was thinking. Do I need to supply the tank with any antibiotic or anything of that nature. I don't want it to spread anymore than it already has.

Any chance that there is chemical war going on between corals!?

I don't think that is a possibility because they are 8" to 12" apart. The parts of the coral that are not affected still have good coloration and polyp extension.

I dose the same amount every night. It is steady with little fluctuation.

Is it possible that my tank was just not ready to move to sps? It's only been up since July. I have many other sps that are not acropora.

Is it possible you are getting temperature swings when you are not home?

Do you have any restore? If you do mix some in a cup or something and let the frags soak for 15 or 20 min before gluing. It won’t treat for anything it will just restore and rejuvenate the coral. I have had good luck with it. Sorry to hear man what a bummer

I don't have any restore. My Temp gauge stores the highs and lows and I check it every day. The highest I have ever seen it is 80.1 F. I was thinking the same thing, so I referenced my temp gauge against another and they were 0.3 F different. I checked the temp in multiple spots in the tank as well, and there was very little change.

I guess I am just bummed out. This is my first problem since I set up my tank. I'm already addicted so I just have to learn and move forward. Maybe I will have a frag sale when they all heal.

It does not look like that. Sorry my lights are now off or I would post a pic. It looks like the life is gone and skeleton is all that is left. I can actually see the flesh coming off.

Holy s... Walter what happend? They were in my tank for months. The only thing you did different from me was using epoxy to glue down. You don't have any anemones or any moving stingers. You have to keep digging somebody must know what's going on.

Do you run activated carbon 24/7? If so when was the last time you changed it? that would be my first step, like Charlie said, I would be weary of a chemical war, even though they are far from each other they can become defensive and still pollute the water for no obvious reason to the viewer. If you don't run carbon get some in the tank.

These corals do not need revive they were healthy and bug free it's something else going on.

I had the corals right next to each other and Walter runs the same dual carbon as me. These are all good points but I am afraid we haven't nailed it yet

How about lighting? From what Phillip is saying, I'm assuming you just added the coral to your tank, did you place it too high in the tank?
