I have the OTP-2000 model. Its a hang on the back model. I was wondering if my water level was high enough or if i am burning up my skimmers motor? Seems to be pulling stuff out ok. Should i run it 24-7? Also take a look at these small gasket looking things that popped up outta nowhere. The pump seems to sound fine and it isnt leaking so idk? Anyone have this skimmer? Anyone see these gasket thingys?

pics of the water line and tiny gaskets?

Just got the same skimmer as yours. Sorry I don't have an answer to your question but I was wondering if you put plumbers tape on the thread of the pump when you put it together?

I just read about pll doing this and wondering if it's necessary.

Than you

looks like the water level should be a bit higher, it should be where it says water level :)

it should start to foam above that.

The gaskets should go in the pump to body connections.

Thanks but im talking about the intake inside my aquarium. There is no water level line or such thing only in the skimmer collection cup do you see a water level max writing. I am wanting to know if my intake "box" has to be all the way submerged to get the maximum protein skim?

No, the box should not be fully submerged. Ideally you want the thinnest film of water possible going through the teeth into the skimmer, because the surface of the water usually has the most crud (scientifically speaking) on it. So the way you're using it now will work fine.

I have the same skimmer. You need to lower the skimmer about 1/2" lower. The pump is powerful and at that height it will start to suck air creating micro-bubbles. Lower it until is is not sucking air down through the skimmer intake. Don't leave it right at that level, go a bit lower to account for evaporation. Also put that smaller black sponge between the outflow and the overflow hole between that Chambers and the collection chamber. It will dissipate most of the bubbles. In your tank, I aimed the outflow tube towards the back wall of the tank.

also: if (when) you break teeth on the collection cup, light the end on fire of the broken tooth, wait a second, blow it out and immediately stick it back on. Works like a charm!
