S. Haddoni update...

Hey guys,

I know many of you guys tried to dissuade me from keeping my s. haddoni, but I still have it, and plan to keep it for now, and attempt to prove that they truly can be kept in smaller tanks as long as water quality is kept good and as stable as possible. I have had it now for about 2 weeks, and it seems to be flourishing, but I will let you guys decide. Here are some pics:

Thanks!!!
ps: I know 2 weeks is nothing, but I just wanted to let you guys know it's still doing great and is eating well!

I'm glad its well, but you also have to ask yourself how many people will buy and kill a haddoni because you are keeping one in a far from ideal environment. I hope you will be honest with your updates on this guy. So far it does look very healthy though, I'll give you that.

Nems are very funny. It does appear to me that a rare few just have that will to live that others don't.

I'm not trying to have anyone get one, I'm just reporting my experience... Also, how does it seem I am not being honest about his, how can I really be non-honest?? And thanks for the comment.

I dont see why the size of the tank should matter.. its all about the care...but i do see it out growing a small tank..

I remember way back when I had "small" specimens, it wont take a healthy haddoni long :)

Keep an on eye on yours. In my experience, the areas missing tentacles on the oral disk are an indicator of past or current issues.

lol yea I was talking to you, because I have a 20g and want some kinda anemone and I also have 130 watts pc so I was just trying to see what I could put in there for my picasso clowns.

Scott, Beautiful Nigripes, is that Cujo from before, or the remaining male?
That was Cujo around 2" long. Anemone under 400w XM 20K.

General fwiw: Note how the anemone sits flush against the substrate except where the tunze stream on the opposite side of the tank has lifted the front edge? The anemone is not reaching for light.

What kind of filtration on your 20? Have a sump?

Before I just had an aquaclear hob filter, but yesterday I upgraded. I put an aquafuge 2 with protein skimmer built in. It hold about 4 gallons of water. It skims my water thoroughly, and in my fuge I have a bit of live rock rubble and a big bunch of chaetomorpha algae; going to add more algae to the fuge.

Anemone looks healthy Seabass. Glad to hear you added a protein skimmer and some chaeto. Both go a long way toward maintaining good water quality, and of course, regular water changes are even more important.

thanks garyb! I will keep on updating down the road. Yes, the skimmer/fuge I think will help quite a bit, and will add an extra 4 gallons of water which can't hurt either. I will do weekly or every other week water changes.

Thanks!
