S. Tapetum (mini carpet) propagation question

Anyone know about how to make the S. Tapetum (mini carpet anemone) split. I heard that it is an easy anemone to split in the tank. I just don't know the method.

Assuming you're talking about the "mini" ones, the ones that don't get much larger than a quarter, just take a knife and slice it in half through the mouth trying to keep equal amounts of the oral and pedal discs with each half.

If you're talking about the "maxi" ones, the ones that get up to about 6" in diameter, I'd do it the same way... but I don't of anyone who has manually split the larger ones so you'd be treading new ground without any guarantees it is likely to succeed.

Thanks for your info. I think I have a "maxi" since it is about 3" in diameter. Here is the picture of it. I thought it was trying to split by itself but it wasn't. It was just trying to wedge itself in a long shape crevice on the rock.

I think I'm not brave enough to slice it up in half yet. If I have two of them, maybe.

I've seen my lfs owner split a haddoni. I'm sure it is very similar process for the tapetum. Beautiful carpet, by the way.
