Sad day for my Tank

Aarron:

I have 2 ground probes.

Oblio:
I am picking some poly filter today. (At this point I want to try everything)

Manny:

I stopped carbon a week ago along with everything but 2 part.

The 2 part, if you mixed that yourself with that water you tested positive for chloramines may want to address that. Just a thought.

Update:

I was able to Locate Poly Filter and its been in tank for 2 hours. I might be jumping gun but seems to be improving PE on all corals. But it has not change color yet. I hope this is a turning point.

Next Step is to part-out corals and find a temp tank to keep naso and other fish until I decide what direction I will go with tank.

Z - anything I can do to help, just holler. I have some capacity to store fish and coral, but fish will be a problem to catch.

Anyway, you know my set ups so if there is something I can do, just give me a shout.

Mike,

Thank you so much for all your help. I might take you up on that for my large Loripe colony and the new frags of pearlberry and Shortcake. I have them in another tank at this time. I will let you know if it does not get better soon. Also still have that monster green cap. Will text you in AM.

Just let me know. I have plenty of room and the 300 is starting to "crank" now so should be able to house for how ever long you need.

Hey Z, so sorry to hear the tank took such a bad turn. Sounds like you might be getting ahead of it, which is good to hear. Keep an eye on the polyfilter, if it changes color that could tell you what the problem is.

How is everything Big? Was looking forward to a positive update for your tank.

*fingers crossed*

Update: tank is doing better. So far GSP and corky polp are out. sps that did not bleached are now brown. But not dead. Skimmer is pulling out the same. I have reduced the amount of water changes done. Doing 10 gallon water change daily. Poly filter has not changed colors. Also have not changed carbon in reactor in 3 days.

Running all new RO/DI media. Still not dosing vodka and have not dosed anything in over a week (other than 2 part).

Parameters:
Ca: 460
Alk:9.5
Ph.8.4
Po4:0
No nitrites and now register nitrates at 3.
Mag:1350

i assume high ca and alk is do to corals not taking it up.

I reduced 2 part dose in half.

I hope I am at a turning point.

This is great news Z. I'm glad to see that things are starting to turn around. Please keep in mind that if you need help, you can text or PM and I'll stop by after work to assist in anything you may need.

I hope things keep getting better.

Update: Tank is looking great and I have back to 20% water change weekly. Frogspawn looks better then ever and Zoos are looking better then ever. Poly filter never changed colors and I have not had it in tank for a week. I stopped running carbon reactor also week ago to see if something was leeching toxins.

New Issues:
Skimmer is producing some extremely foul skimmate.

Parameters as of today:
CA:460
Alk:9
PH:8.1
Po4:.25
Nitrates near 0
Mag 1300.

I still have high CA and Alk even at reduced 2 part for over a week.

I think I hit turning point but working on a new project and will still tear down slowly.

The SPS I made for Dead is actually turning colors back to normal. Green Digita, Loripe, Blue Millie, Rainforrest Digi. Others are still very brown but now I see PE.

So here is a Question I hope I can get help with, Should I send water samples I kept to triton? The water has been in sealed bottles since issue came up.

Poly filter never changed color but it seem to me that adding it was the turning point as I went thru 2 gallons of carbon with 2 reactors and nothing changed prior to polyfilter.

Also all new media on RO unit and tested old on a kent unit had in storage (Will list it for sale) Chloramine was not passing member with old media.

SPS that were distributed to other reefers seem to be doing well. Thank you everyone for the help

Super glad to hear things are coming back. Congratulations on turning the corner. I have idea on the water test sorry. But hey, things are looking up!

Update

Update

Well after 3 weeks of 4 Poly filters massive water changes and tons of carbon I have now passed a full month of stability. Some of the SPS I left for dead are not only coming back but are coloring up to what they were before crash. Still a long way to go. As you can see I left some of the frags that dead.

Parameters as of today:
CA:420
Alk:8
PH:8.1
Po4:.25
Nitrates near 0
Mag 1200.

I still plan to do an upgrade and as much as my wife hated the 300dd idea I think she is coming around to the Idea. So I hope to catch the next Marineland Faois sale.
