:( sad day

3 times in my koi pond, I have used Sodium percarbonate to kill GHA deader than door nails. I used .5 cup per 1000 gals. After the algae started floating up in about 2 hrs in the pond,, (it turns stringy gray) I can fish it out easily with a net. I then did a 20% water change
The important thing about this process I to have enough Hair algae to consume the carbonate as it is toxic to the Koi in about 12 hrs. My ghr did not come back for 2 years. The koi were fine
A koi is a fish and a pond is similar to a very large aquarium. If my fish were all out, I would try that first before dismantlmentaling it.
Koiphen.com has several great threads about this process, Follow this link to get there if you want to look into it.

I would NOT advise that. You have a big investment in live rock and sand. I have a koi pond and have found that that SP treatment doesn't work well there, either: you use it and the algae comes back. I use a combo of two products in my pond that, again, I certainly wouldn't use in a marine tank.

I would do the 3 day lights off and cover the sides of the tank with towels. Then after the 3 day lights off, do a fairly large WC. Then wait 3 weeks and do another 3 day lights out. I would also pick up a decent size CUC from reefcleaners before the lights out. Make sure that the tank isn't getting direct sun light either.

Best of luck on getting your tank back up and running. What are you going to do with all the livestock during the 3 month cycle?

Keep them in my qt tub. I'm not going to recycle. I'm going to set up my 90 finally and cycle it. Then when it's cycled I will transfer everyone slowly over. When it's done I will sell of my 75.
