New member
I have been wanting a pair of saddleback clows for awhile now to host my green carpet I have read that they can be rough on their host if some of you have any please chime in and give me some pointers ..also I have a Tomato clown in the tank now I was told he might host the nem I will take him out when I get the pair unless you guys think they would get along
thanks in advance

im pretty sure that the tomato and saddlebacks will not get along especially in a 54 gallon tank, if thats what you still have.

saddle back clowns get HUGE the ones in atlantis marine worlds tanks have got to be well over a pound and 11+ long but fat like you wouldnt belive.

don't you think you are exagerating? I have never seen one bigger than 6 inches.

Agreed. Adult size is 5-6". I just saw a pair of these at a lfs last week. Beautiful clowns! If you do go with the saddlebacks, you'll definitely want to remove the tomato clown.

Mine are constantly all over my haddoni and if they get scared of anything at least one if not both will dive right into the mouth of the nem and peek their heads out looking for the all clear. So I would say they are def. hard on the nem.

I've had my saddleback for about 6 months. I got him at about an inch, now he's about two inches. He shares his "apartment" with a yellow tang and yellow clown goby. They all get along fine.

His name is Clyde, like a Clydesdale! Stupid I know, but I love him.

He lays down in my leather like a bed, pretty funny. After having him for six months, I don't see any difference in their hosting habits as opposed to other clowns.

I don't have many fish, nor any more clowns, so I can't comment on how he/she would get along with a tomato. Tomatoes get to be a-holes when they get big.

Wouldn't that be awesome though!

I called Atlantis today. Im trying to get there official size on them, but they are the biggest clownfish I have ever seen.

If it wast 25$ I would go just to get a picture. Ill call again tommorow to try to get you guys an exact size. It isn't my intention to exagerate those fish are HUGE.

I wonder what they feed them, if thats true. lol

Well I spoke with Atlantis and they were really not able to give an accurate wieght or lenght on the fish.

They did say they are a fair bit larger then 6" and it was explained to me as a phenomenon called Aquarium Gigantism. So it is in fact not the normal size even for adult Saddle clownfish.

I am sorry for an misinfirmation.

6" is normal and probably the maximum size, I've seen wild ones come in at those sizes or a bit over at 8" but never 11"

Thanks for the update
