Saddleback Question

I've had a Saddleback clown for about 8 months. It has taken to my LTA. I was just looking to see if it would be possible to add another saddleback. Would they share an anemone? Are there any concerns I should be aware of before I purchase another?

The LTA is about 4 times that size now, but you get the idea.

you can add another. your clown is a female, being by itself so long, so you will need to find another that is 1/2 the size or smaller. Preferably a juviniale so theres no chance of getting another female.

They should share the nem, but the female might make him stay out at first, it depends on the female

I'm sure this has been covered in this forum, but what happens if I accidentally get another female? I thought I heard somewhere that one will revert to a male or was that the other way around?

once a female turns female, theres no going back.
juvi = no sex
no matter what they are males first.
then female

but it cant go backwards. if you get another female by accident, they will fight to the death. (not sure about sabea personality.. I have maroons, but im pretty sure it go's that way for all clowns)

Thanks alot TourKid. One more question. Once a clown pairs up w/ an anemone, would it possibly change up. For instance hosting to a new BTA instead of the LTA I already have

oh yeah, for sure. as long as they find it and like it. my maroons are hosting 2 nems right now lol

Cool. As you can tell I'm pretty new at this, and I appreciate your help. Any other tips or suggestions to make a smooth introduction would be helpful. I guess now its just a matter of finding a small sadleback.

may be a silly question....but how do you determine the sex of a saddleback??

Any clownfish living solo in a tank will become a female automatically. That is the nature of clowns. In the wild a group of clowns will have one female queen, one sexed male, and the rest smaller juvies. If the female queen dies, the next largest fish (which would be the sexed male) will turn into a female and one of the juvies will assert dominance over the rest of the unsexed juvies and become the active male.
