safe to move fish back in?

2 weeks ago I took out all my rock and reaquascaped the tank. The rock was probably out of water for a day and a half. I also got rid of all the old sand and put new live sand in. To do this, I moved all my livestock to a separate tank where they've been for the past two weeks. I've been waiting for a cycle but have not seen one yet. The nitrates and ammonia have been and are reading 0. So, is two weeks enough time to wait for a cycle after this process and is it safe to move my livestock back into the display tank?

I'd be surprised if rock which had been out of the water for a day and a half didn't sustained a significant die-off and therefore cause a spike when placed back in a tank. You might want to initiate a cycle (or at least try) with a bacteria product or similar method.

i agree with the above comment.. how established was your old lr? also you have to think that your live sand prob has some dieoff also.. its a tuff decision.. did you ever have an ammonia spike? i say yes go ahead if your lr wasnt outta water.. i just did a compleate tank upgrade last sunday and replaced my sand and never had an issue but my lr was kept in the water and is 5years established with no spike. id just give it another week and if everything is still good i would

the live rock is 5-6 years old. I've been expecitng die off and an ammonia spike but haven't seen one. I;ve been testing about every third day since I put the rock back in 2 weeks ago and have not seen any rise in ammonia. Would I of seen it by now?

I would have expected a spike by now. It seems unlikely that the tank is sterile after such a short time, but it is a possibility.
