Safe to use expired interceptor?

I was originally looking for sentinel but a local vet had some interceptor lying around and gave them to me for free I have 3 medium sized pills will it be safe to use in my 90 gal and what's the recommend dosage thanks

How expired? There is a saftey factor on the date. If it was just a few months I would use it. If it was a couple of years maybe not.

Expiration 3/13 also if someone can help with the dosage it's a pill for 25-50lbs so half of the large breed pill which is 50-100 and was said to treat 380gals so would it be safe to assume the that 1/2 of a medium pill will do 95gals?

Still plenty good. I have pills from 2009 that were used in a local tank and worked fine. 25-50 has 13 mg of medicine and can treat up to 200 gallons. The original recipe from Dustin said one 100 lb pill for 380 gallons, but I prefer round numbers so I have always said 1 big pill for 400 gallons or a 50 lb pill for 200 gallons or a 10 lb puppy pill for 10 gallons.

I have used 10 times the dose for small tanks with no apparent harm. None of this is scientific so proceed with the knowledge that I am one person on the internet where we all know how useful information can be, but look over my history and you will see I am no "Johnny come lately" which just means I am being truthful when I say I have personally used 10 times the dose and not seen adverse effects so I think a double dose is more than safe.

Should I put an air stone in the tank since I'm going to dose it at night and my skimmer won't be puller air in ?

No. Think of this like a pesticide. It really does nothing to the corals or fish. The only concern is die off of zooplankton. If you had a heavy copepod population it is possible their death would cause a spike in pollution so a water change and carbon are important, but otherwise the "medicine" does no harm to anything other than exoskeleton critters: crabs, shrimp, copepods, and red bugs.

Just a +1 to the spike in die off... I've been battling a cyano issue for a while, and finally got it under control. Did Sentinel three times, and on the third time the die off must've finally hit its course as I had a huge increase in hair algae, cyano, which now almost a week later is starting to die off with GFO, carbon, and heavy skimming... Besides pod(s), any crabs, etc also die off (they did for me at least)..

I didn't even think of this when I started the treatment, but keep that in mind. I did 10% water changes, fresh carbon and GFO after each treatment as well. No red bugs though, so I'm happy, and so are my SPS.

^+2 on the spike. I have been having algae issues as well and it got noticeably a little worse after the first treatment, and I've lost all of my hermits as a result. It's easy enough to get rid of afterwards with the typical algae treatment, but just be aware that this may happen.

Yea I figured die off was/is going to happen my tank is pretty low nutrient and shouldn't have a problem getting it back down gonna do the WC done on my lunch

Water change done and added new carbon everything looks good the coral I could notice the red bugs the most is clean no bugs that I can see lost a couple of hermits the ones I couldn't find a peppermint shrimp and my cleaner shrimp made it, glad he did two more doses to go

?? I did the second dose everything looks good should I still do the 3rd dose and ow long should I wait for the 3rd iv read 1 week the same as the others and iv read 2 weeks

Don't skimp out on the third dose... Do it for insurance... I sure know I wouldn't want to repeat this process ever again unless absolutely necessary. Just my .02 cents.

That's true probably not best to skip it but this was a peice of cake compared to AEFW that I would never want to do again and I wouldn't wish it on my enemies.... Well maybe I would hahahaha

So should I wait the week or 2
