Sailfin id

Is this a regular sailfin or a desjardini? It has some of the desjardini markings but the yellow tail of the regular. I am told this fish is about 7".

Desjaradini. You can tell by the freckles on the face and stripes on the fish. If it's a regular sailfin it's the best looking one I have ever seen

It looks like a hybrid (Zebrasoma desjardini x Zebrasoma velifer), though I am not sure if such a thing exists. Note the yellow tail with no freckles and the fins with lines radiating out instead in circles look like a regular SF. However the body is more ornate like a Desjadini.

Nope. Normal sailfin. I also have one with those exact same markings. Will take pics later.

Real question is do you like it? There are some fish people go nuts over that I just don't care for and then there are some that people think are ugly I like.

One other thing worth noting is the lack of the large yellow/gold spots on the belly.

LOL one more thing is the blotch of purple area around the spine. On this fish it is more defined as an oval where as on the Desjardini it is coloring most of that area

Yeah the more I have been looking at pictures I'm convinced it is a regular sailfin. Most I see in person just don't look as good as the two above

Beautiful Fish either way. And that is what counts most for me.
