Salt mix station

Depending on how fancy you want to get, 2 Brute trash cans work great! Depending on head height and length of pipe used, is what will dictate what pump you should get.

With all that said, I use 2 Brute trash cans and a POS pump that came with a PNP system I bought.

Older photo from when I first set it up, some things have changed, but thats the basic concept.

how does this work? i see were the rodi water goes into barrel on left, but then what? im assuming you mix the salt and water together in the one on the right? how do you get the water from left barrel to the right one?

He would open the valves on the bottom left and top middle then close the bottom right valve then turn the pump on

Homer has 1" bulkheads in his setup.

As for where to get containers you can also get ones from places like tractor supply, rural king, ect. Basically agriculture and farming place will have containers you can use...

Use a bulkhead that accommodates pipe the same size as the pump outlet/inlet. Makes your life easier. But, it's not an actual bulkhead, its a flexible fitting called a uniseal. BRS sells them. I use them. Works great.

Cut the plastic with a hole saw, or appropriate sized drill bit

How big of a container are you looking for?

I use two poly tanks connected the same way as shown above. The tanks are 200gal each and use a reeflo dart for a pump.

I am in the process of putting one together

Actually for my setup I used actual bulkheads, not uniseals.

I found these great little plastic bulkheads that are designed for not flat surfaces at lowes(of all places). They have a thick gasket that squishes against the barrel when you tighten the nut. All I could find was 1/2" at my local lowes and was plenty for my needs. I have no idea if they make them bigger.

I've had uniseals leak in the past after a while, and was still going to go that route until I found these.

Barrel on the left stores my RO/DI, I flip the second valve on the left and the top valve on the right to fill the barrel on the right. Once filled I close the bottom valve on the left and open the bottom valve on the right to mix. To do a WC, I open the bottom right valve, close the top valve and open the one in the middle. Connect my hose, drag to tank and turn on the pump.

For plain RO/DI I simply open the first bottom valve on the left and it's just gravity fed.

Do you have a Tank Depot or Tractor Supply within driving distance?
The typical water containers you see people use are expensive to ship.

What pump are you using

It's the pump that came with my SCA PNP system. No idea on the flow or or head height it can handle, or the name(just a knockoff Chinese pump). It was large and loud so I replaced it. It was a spare so I put it to good use.
