Hi I just wanted to know what salt mixes people use and what ones they dislike. I'm looking to switch to a different mix right now I use Kent had instant ocean it was ok, tried oceanic did not like took a lot of salt to get S.G. level right, and the Kent just stays cloudy for 2 to 4 days after W/C. Thanks Craig

IO/oceanic mix 50/50. been using this combo 1 year. the corals and myself LOVE it...switched from crappy crystal seas, the corals and myself HATED it...

Me too

I've used TM Pro before. Compared to Seachem reef I think both are good but the batch of TM pro I had seemed to have more calcium and definitely seemed to have more magnesium than seachem reef.

Oceanic with no problems so far. Just need to let sit for 24hrs with good cirulation to help bring up PH

TMP is great but has a higher price tag. IO is also good but is low in calcium. Price tag for IO makes it worth while. I Have considered mixing TMP and IO 60(TMP)/40(IO).

Not a big fan of using SeaChem Reef only at least for starting a tank... My Reef club put in an order of SeaChem, and I purchased 5 buckets... I like Reef Crystals... IO's reef version... And generally I'll mix them up about 50/50... I'm going to try Red Sea's Coral Pro... We'll see how that does... :)

I use Tropic Marin Pro-Reef and it's great. My Magnesium level is excellent and I have no problems with the salt. Make sure to test the first batch of saltwater from a new bucket of salt for optimum levels of everything.

I think Coralife gets a bad rap...hell, atleast it has trace elements in it, which is more than you can say about I/O, and their "Reef Crystals" are only marginally better than the regular I/O, at substatially higher cost.

It comes down to what's available neer you. Basically I only had a choice of CoraLife, I/O, and Kent in my area.

I've used a combo of TMP and Oceanic and saw a nice boost in coral and coraline growth. Now I'm using reg TM.

I've used RC since the start and always test CA around 400 with no dosing.

No heavy SPS though.

tropic marine pro-reef
I really like this salt. my tank looks much better than when I used Kent. It mixes well and is clear with in a few hours. A bit pricey but worth it
