Well i ordered my discount salt from dr fosters and it showed up as instant ocean salt mix, not reef crystals. After an hour with there support they wouldn't accept the return so im stuck with it unless i wanna pay to ship it back. Yeah right! Can i use this for now? I only have a few lps corals for now and dose b ionic. Will the b ionic take care of lost trace elemens? I only have the way i see it i bought enough to last close to 15 weeks of water changes.

This is just me opinion. I wouldn't do it. I use to mess w salt brands years ago on my first tank and my tank was a mess I couldn't keep mushrooms healthy I switched to sechem and stayed w then ever sense.

I would count ur loss and sell it 10-20$ cheaper on here and buy the right salt for ur tank.

Just my opinion.

I have a softy tank and use IO and just use a little 2 part to increase the cal and alk numbers. I think that is what many of the people here do. Its cheaper and by adding a little 2 part your good to go.

I made the same mistake except I ordered 11 buckets of IO instead of RC. Best mistake I ever made to say the least. Cheaper salt, still a great brand of salt that came very close to RC. All I do is dose a small amount of B-ionic to bring the Alk and CA to my desired level. The transition wasn't noticable at all with my corals, even with my tempermental SPS corals. I would say use it, if not lmk I could take it off you hands! Lol

it's the same company. i'd use it and move on. abc reefs in the cuse sells rc for $40. abc pets in fairport has good deals on oceanic. most people find a brand and pkg that works for them and stick with it. i like supporting local stores whenever possible.

if you were charged the higher price for Reef Crystals I'd demand they refund the difference in cost. (IO is less expensive than RC.)

Personally, I prefer IO over RC.
