Saltwater Plant Farm?

Given the "waste" of old saltwater, I was wondering if anybody has tried/have had success with having a saltwater plant farm? I came across this article on a survivalist website that talks about different edible foods. Anybody?

What spurred this thought is the idea that many aquarists live in low-rain areas (Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, etc.). I figure if one could make a good enough farm they would be "wasting" less water :spin1:

There was a thread on here about someone that had a fairly large red ogo (specific type of gracilla) farm going. Multiple tanks/troughs both inside and out.

That's encouraging! It'd be nice knowing one isn't wasting as much water
