Saltyreefs 120g build

How did you determine the height of the main overflow drain? You want to make sure the water flow keeps detritus from accumulating at the bottom, in my case I just left the bulkhead.

From all the research I have done, all points to the halfway point. If you don't have a drain pipe on the drain line, all the water from the over flow will end up in your sump causing a possible flood. Although my sump is big enough to cover that much water if I didn't have a drain pipe. I wouldn't want to be the guinie pig either way. Lol! Also I'm not worried about detritus in the over flow because I will be going bare bottom. Detritus build up will be a breeze to clean up.

Makes sense; mine works because I have a large sump but this tip will come in handy for future builds.

I can't tell you for sure. It was in the shed when I moved in. But it works perfectly all though it looks like it was in WW2. Lol!

Well after this past weekend, I hope I won't have to go through another build in quite some time. All I have to say is... I'm exhausted! I wish I would of taken pictures of the transfer but time was of the essence and all I wanted to was finished. If it wasn't for the help of my friend Felix (nitroreef) I would of been up till the next morning. Luckily with his help, we were able to finish around 2 in the morning. Oh I forgot to mention we started tearing down the 90g at 1 in the afternoon. Because of work and the build process I kind of slacked a little on the maintance of the 90g and some corals suffered to the point that I might loose them. What's left of my blue tip turaki is just some frags I was able to salvage, 2 of my milli colonies arent doing so hot. Also lost my strawberry shortcake. :( so with that said I have lots of frags and only a few colonies left.

I used only about half the rock I had in my old tank. This was one of the things I was looking forward to and I'm happy how the rockscape turned out. I still have a crap load of frags i need to glue which you can probably see them on the bottom of the tank and the 2 frag racks on the right side of the tank. I took a teaser pic with my iPhone but will take better pics once the tank clears up and everything settles. Oh and when I get some rest but that's probably not going to happen. Lol!

I must say the herbie drain ROCKS!!!! I don't think I would ever run another tank with out it. Super quite, and I like the fact that I have more flow going through the refugium. Before it seemed sort of kinda stagnant in my old setup. The plumbing worked out perfect with just a few minor adjustments to the sump but worked out perfect. Lol! Not bad for my predicting the plumbing to fit like a glove without the sump in the stand.

I got rid of my mis-bar clowns and yellow tang, so I pick up a pair of black ice clowns which look like they will be a mated pair. I also picked up 2 purple fire gobys, a pajama cardinal to keep the other one I had some company, a royal gramma and 2 harlequin starfish.

For now this is the picture of the tank as of yesterday. I will post more as soon as get another chance.

Thanks for looking.

Ok so I finally got around doing the door. I want a pop out door but really didnt want an all wood door. So I came up with this. I made a frame bought some plexi glass and a fish themed window film. What do you guys think?

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I found the film online. It really wasn't hard to find but at the same time there really wasn't much of a selection. Most everywhere I searched this was the only fish themed film. Thank god it isn't an ugly one and thankfully it is a stained glass type deal I was looking for too.

Awesome idea on those doors. How are the corals doing?

Thanks! I lost almost 50% of my sps. I'm not very happy about it. Not to mention I lost a lot of hard to get sticks. But nothing I can do about it. Just going to have to start all over. All my big colonies are gone except for one. Mostly what's left are just frags that I need to watch grow into colonies. :(
