Sam's 110g Diary.

wont the stand lose some weight bearing? as in become weaker cause u took some wood out? i'd reinforce the parts where u cut off the wood.

Yea it has some 2 extra 2x4 in there due to the 2x4 that was in the center. I have it all in my camera except its acting weird and it turns off while im uploading pics...

I will have them up when I can...

thanks

Sam

Here she is today 4/1/06.

I need to go to Home Depot and get a 45 fitting and a coupling I did the drain tube way to long and need to shorten it.I removed the centered 2x4 because the wall in the sump was coming loose and redid the whole thing. Ill be putting the 2x4 back in, in a few.

Ive confirmed with my Pops, and water will be going in today. Ill be adding the sand first then the water. Ill have a canister filter cleaning for a few hours... I need to go find a small Y barb fitting ASAP for the return line...Till next time.

are you going to rebuild the center brace that you cut out?.. i know you said that you had put 2x4's in the corners but you no longer have anything holding the center up...

... definately get that done dude.

otherwise we expect an action shot of the tank crashing to the ground... lol J/K

I have to try and see If I can finish up some nice doors and a canopy.

Heres the tank with fiji pink sand. I was amazed, Its around 3 inches but it will probably go down to 2 once the water is in. Time was against me today and Ill have to add the water first thing in the morning.

PICS!!!:D I should have cleaned up the glass first but meh...Check out the Starfire panel on the 2 last pics....

Filled her up. Im running a Canister Filter loaded with carbon and micron filters to clean up the sand storm.

Hopefull, I can find the Y barb tommorow and I can shoot the main pump, add the salt and have everything going. The last set of water to add to the tank will be from my old 60g tank and saltwater.I might add the livestock the same day I go pick up the critters from Gabriels house but I dont know yet, ill start testing the water monday.

Im planning out the aquascaping right now so I know what to do once I get the finishing pieces of Rock. Im hoping Gabriel has 1 or 2 nice flat piece left so I can give it a Cliff type of look.

Till next time!

Looking great Sam, can't wait to see what your aquascaping is going to look like. What are your plans as far as a layout of how you want you structure to look like?
Brent

Sam if you want me to hold the critters for you for a few days until your tank settles in it wont be a problem.. i can put them in my sump...

let me know

Gabriel

Brent: Thanks. Im going with a 2 island theme. Both oposite from each other. one will be a high peak looking one and the other will me a short stubby looking one like a meza but with a cliff look to it and a falling angle.

Heres a 90g tank, I will have the two high rock structures except i wont have any rock in the middle it will be swimming room for the Tang and the Chromis's. Mine will farther apart since my tank is 5 feet, but he rock structures will be at least 1 foot in a half+ and 2.5 feet wide. But here you have an idea of how tall I want them.

Gabriel, that would actually be cool if you can do that for me. I can go pick them up Saturday for sure.

Thanks guys

Sam

Heres the main pump its a Via Aqua. Is it true that If I add a 90 elbow facing down it will help with the microbubbles? Ill be pushing out around 900gph - whatever the Y fiiting resticts.

at that gph...90 elbow will not do much in my opinion - i had a 90 on my mag 9.5 - didn't help much. it may help if you had lower gph return pump

24 hours from yesterday, Ill be shooting main pump and all tomorow once I go get my Y fitting from Gabriel...Add salt and rock...

I was bored and added around 40lbs I will keep this same idea for the 1st island except Ill make it around 4 inches taller and a few wider. Ima keep around 4-6 inches distance from rock and tank walls.
This will be the short meze looking type the other will be way higher, closer to lighting...Ill add the 135lbs remaining tommorow Im way to tired! Till next time...
