Hi guys, been a while.
update:
i moved all my corals, fish, rocks into the new tank a couple weeks ago. everything looked good since i used water, sand, and rock from a previous setup that was over a year old. no real cycle and my skimmer handled it with ease.
as with every tank move, i had some real headaches and heartaches. i lost a small amount of my sps during the move but was able to save most sps minicolonies and all of my lps and softies.
with this new setup, i wanted one anemone in my tank for my a nigripes pair and i thought the best time to put one in was before i placed all my sps on the rocks. i left my remaining sps on my frag racks and got a nice rainbow bta. unfortunately, i forgot to put foam guards on my mp10s so it went bye bye and turned to mincemeat when i went to sleep that night. the goo from its remains killed a large red planet colony and numerous others. my skimmer picked up most of the remains so with a water change and some more carbon, i was able to stabilize the tank.
that was a real sad episode in my tank build saga. hopefully some of you readers will learn from my mistakes, i know i definitely did. next couple days i was just busy trying to cope with the losses.
then, one day, i came across a real good deal on a red sticholdactyla haddoni anemone. it was too good to pass up. it got my hopes up right quick. the anemone was in stupendous condition and very colorful, not to mention the price was right. i took every care in introducing this animal to my tank. i juiced it up with some prodibio reefbooster and also fed is some reef chili. within one day, it grabbed hold on some rock close to the sand and looked right at home. i know some of you might say that it might outgrow my tank, but for now, its only 8'' fully expanded, so i aint getting rid of it soon. here are some pics....
