Sand or crushed corral for bottom of tank?

I have 60lbs of FL crushed corral in tank now. Just starting, should I change it out for live sand and what kind and :hammer: can I get it.

Adding live rock or a thin layer of sand from an active tank should be enough to get things going. No need to spend money on "live sand".

i would suggest a sugar sized sand and not the crushed coral . do you have any ideas what will go in the tank as far as fish ? many wrasses burrow at night and the crushed coral can cut them so its a no go for them if you use crushed coral . your pod population will be able to inhabit the crushed coral if its large enough . so if your doing sea horses then the crushed coral would benifit them . you need a game plan so you have direction and dont have to do things twice . good luck and keep up with the questions ,thats how we learn .

The tank being 6 ft long I'll try to put in a sand only area. Not sure on direction I am going yet as I learn more every day! :fish1: Thanks for information

I suggest that you lose the crushed coral and go with sand. Unfortunately, I just tossed the sand from my 180 gallon teardown last week. . I bought my sand online from Dr. Foster and Smith. If you ask, You will get several different opinions as to exactly which type of sand to purchase.
