Sand question

Idk if this is the right place for it so mods please move if not...

I currently have coral grit in my tank and want to add sand to the tank but want to add it to the current gravel. The tank is about a month old...could I just mix the 2?

Just didn't know if there was anything I should be aware of. I didn't see it being a problem just wanted to double check

Be aware over time the sand will settle to the bottom and become unseen.
