sand shifters eating featherdusters

I am just starting in the hobby and have been adding items to my tank at random. Kind of learning as I am going.
I have sand shifters (snails) and with a placing acouple of fan worms (featherdusters) into my tank, My snails went berserk and attacked them. I do not have fish yet. So I am thinking I may not have enough food for them? Or are the worms a delicacy for the snails? Has anyone had problems?
I would like to keep the feather dusters

What species of snail? The Illynassa sp. snails that are often sold as Nassarius sp. are not true detrivores, they are opportunistic omnivores and will gladly eat worms and other snails if they can defeat their defenses.

Guy already asked the important question.
I have another one:
where are you placing the featherduster worms.... in the sand?

I'd isolate the snails ASAP until you identify what they truly are.

Sk8r your right. I looked them up and they are NASSARIUS snails, i did not know the correct name for them.
Gary you were right. I did place them in the sand to start. I since placed them up on the rocks and I bought some clowns, hoping the snails will fill up on their leftovers.

If not, I will fry up the snails and have some margaritas.
thats guys
