Sandworms??????????

I introduced a piece of live rock into my developing reef aquarium and there are 3-4 sandworms that were inhabiting it. I have a nano 14g tank. Will these worms be harmfull of usefull or neither? Please respond

I am actually dont think they are sandworms. THey came in a red cooled lava like piece of rock that, they are red worms with little flagelas all over, kind of like red centapedes about 1 inch in length. If these pose a problem please let me know. Thank you!

Ok I found out these are a type of sandworm, or Bristle Worm and THEY ARE bad. I took out the piece of rock which was inhabited by them however i Dont know if there maybe be any left in my tank. I read about traps you can buy but im afraid they might be too small for those traps. Suggestions PLEASE!

Ok, first, deep breath. You need to see what kind of bristleworm it is. Bristleworms are actually a good part of a tank, they are great detrivores. Fireworms on the other hand are not something you want and should be removed. Fireworms are generally a more vibrant color and have much longer bristles. Bristleworms can be bi colored, with a darker end and a more red colored end. More than likely you have bristleworms, which are more common.

Yea they are Bristle Worms not FIreworms. Thanls for the info. I went back to the LPS and was told that they wont pose anykind of threat to invertabrates as long as the population doesnt get out of control.
