For those that asked Sanyay at our last meeting for his Radion Light Schedule...Ive got it. PLease pm me you email address and I will send to you. Or even better for me, email me at AquamanE@comcast.net. Its in a weird format (.esq, i thing, so dont know how that plugs into Radion systems, but definitely not viewable in a common format.).

You need to use ecosmart live to open it, not sure if you can open through fusion. I'm not looking to change mine but I'd love to see what it looks like. I have a few saved files from VERY successful tanks and they are all pretty different which leads me to believe it's not the lights. I will say most of them have an intense lower k period.

No one has said anything ......BUT>...It should also be noted for anyone jumping on the bandwagon ....DO NOT USE these graphs right out of the gate as they are a very intensive 100% across the board along with overall 100%....you will need to spend weeks if not longer building up to a photoperiod similar to this as I'm sure no one here that has Radions is using an intensive of a blast as this.....you will bleach everything out and possibly kill some stuff if you just start blasting things...and if you do adopt a schedule like this you need to remember what Sanjay said and take it with a grain of salt......he said he just puts corals in where he likes them and if they die they die ....he has I'm sure an unlimited supply budget from everyone probably giving him stuff so start your stuff off low and move them up slowly when adding new ...

That IS a valid point Matt, and I know very little about LED lighting. I also think its important to point out that his "optics" where replaced to wide angle optics. Not sure what is "stock" option for these lights, but it might be something to keep in mind. The wider the optics, the light is spread more and not as directly intense.

However I do know some about growing corals. That being said he has only been running this for 18 months. If you recall the size of his colonies, they where huge. That was not 6 months, 10 months etc.. of growth. If he did replace some, he still had at least a dozen that where huge and could not have only been growing a few months.

I wouldnt say "never", but i very often put a coral down and not move it. Corals require IMHO a certain period of adjustment. Moving them around frequently requires a restart of that adjustment. This comes with experience of where to place a coral based on the type that it is. More often than not I place them on a frag rack for a week or two, 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up. Then place them. That gave them some sort of start of lighting adjustment IMHO.

The wide angle lenses have a significantly reduced PAR output. I haven't seen the schedule yet but I think you'd be an idiot just plugging a 100% full blast setting and not expect negative consequences. As with any program, start it slow and go up from there. Now you guys have me curious. I'll upload it tomorrow and check it out. Maybe I'll post some screen shots....

If wide angle lenses have reduced par, you should consider them, LOL. Sanjays progression shots and video where amazing for 18 months.

My question though is....Does Ecotech offer wide optic lenses as an option with their Radions? He made it seem like they did it for him at his request.

I don't think you can buy them out of the box with them but they can certainly install them for you. I should probably use them given my tank height but I just keep the lights a little higher up for better spread.

There are the origional lenses, the TIR lenses that I think are standard now, and the wide 120 lenses that help with spread at the cost of reduced PAR.

Rovi- You would have loved the results of wide optics if you saw the lecture. Again, i knw nothing about LED's,,, but his results, in 18 months, was nothing short of amazing!!!!

If i recall correctly Sanjays goal was 50-100 at sand, 200-500 at top, closer to 500. By top I mean on top of coral.

That sounds reasonable. So who has a PAR meter they can lend me?!?!?!?

FWIW, most of my corals are only 7-8 months established, in 10-12 months I'll have something to show.....hopefully:D

you dont understand. If you look at Sanjays progression, his 1" frags where 10-12" colonies in 18 months. Ive never seen anything like it.

Wow ! I just uploaded SanJay's program to see his schedule. It's a crazy amount of light!
I reverted back to my own schedule as not to fry my corals. However, I am going to increase my intensity slowly and see what happens. I only started with SPS about 6-8 months ago. I'm getting rapid growth but I feel the colors could improve. Unless I'm just comparing to all the photoshop photo's I see online. idk

Don't Radions have a acclimation mode? Where it will automatically ramp them up based on the time frame you want?

Rovi - I have a par meter.

Yes, I have 2 traps in my possession. Margins was slightly bigger and that helped me catch my demon fish. I have to return BOTH of them LOL:D
