The Ft. Myers club has a monthly meeting at a place equivalent to Mote Marine called the Imaginarium. We should approach Mote and ask for a complimentary meeting room once a month.
At the May meeting Ft Myers had two members speak on building devices. They spoke and demonstrated how to build the device. One was a device to reduce the Nitrates, the other was a Ca reactor. Easy to build and inexpensive. They had about 35 members at the May meeting.
In July, there will be a tour of 7 homes that have reef tanks with a Barbecue afterward.
In August they are going to the Keys to collect specimens.
There is no reason why we can't have similar meetings in Sarasota. Worse comes to worse, we could always ask them for us become a sub chapter of the Ft. Myers club. Then we could share meetings with some meetings in Ft. Myers, some in Sarasota. That should help build interest in Sarasota.

Al those are some great suggestions. I just happen to know the man in charge of mote I'll have to give him a ring and see if we can work something out. But before we get to do the fun stuff we will have to get this club up and running. I have sent an pm to Nona the pres. of tbrc to ask for help with this. If anyone has any experience with things of this nature please speak up as we will need all the help we can get. I am having a hard time believing that all the past members are no longer interested in an active club.

June is the tour of homes, July is the Keys.
August and September will be a guest speaker and a trip to Sanibel Island. Which month is which, will depend on the speaker schedule.

please anyone who is interested post something so we can gauge interest. We will need someone to host a meeting. I am going to contact mote and see if we can get in there but lets not get our hopes up so if anyone is interested in letting a bunch of strangers into there home for a meeting please step up. If there is anyone interested in helping organize events ,meetings, etc. please step up. I am totaly new to this whole concept but am willing to put forth some effort to get this thing happening but I will need help.

Ok just so everyone is up to speed I have spoken to Sue who is the President of the Tampa club and she has allowed me to post on there forum looking for membership. She has also invited us to attend some of there meetings so we can see how there club opperates. I also sent an email to Masna requesting info on club/society requirements so we will have access to there resources(if anyone is unfamiliar with what Masna is here a link to there page)
