Sawdust ???

I try to drill a hole on top of the canopy for the fan and I know it will be alot of sawdust will drop in side the tank, is this safe ?

i would place some saran wrap over the tank and then get it off with a dustbuster or similiar.

it might be safe, but that depends on the type of wood used.

Sawdust floats but I would worry about the varnish or paint that my be in the sawdust. Can't you cover the tank so it is protected somehow?

I'll try to cover it but I can't cover the whole tank. It's ply wood only, no paint on it.

Wood itself, anbd probably the glues in plywood, are not much of a concern, but if it is treated to reduce decomposition ("pressure" treated, for example), then it would be a bigger concern.
