Say Hello to my little friend...

I would think a trio of the large angels is alomst impossible. The only ones that I would attempt it with is Bandits, Regals, or goldflakes.

In that category flagfins do well in groups.

THey are definitely worth the money. I would not buy any angel over 6" unless it was an emperor angel due to the fact that they are VERY hard to get eating and adapt to captivity.

So you think a large emperor is ok to be put in captivity? We've already talked about NC emperors, I want one with a streamer (just in case a CXI loses its orange tail) and that is a 10" angel! What makes you think they are ok vs any other large angel at that size? Just curious, not bashing.

 You would certainly know all about that. How many are you up to know? 4-5 Flagfins? I'm just jealous, I never had luck keeping these guys past 3-4 months......

Large emperors are fairly easy to get to eat based on where they are collected from. The CXI large emperors that have come in are almost instantly eating mysis and clam. This is due to the fact that they are caught correctly and are not sitting in wholesale and other tanks getting sick.

I would not hessitate to put a 10" emperor in my system. I like watching them grow, so I would never buy one that large. Streamers are very common in red sea and in the indian ocean. THey are also in NC. IMHO, there is nothing more rewarding in this hobby than growing a 2.5" juvie emperor to an almost 11" bohemoth like I did...regardless of tail color or streamer.

When my big tank is up and running I will be adding a juvie CXI emperor to try to pair...

LOL...ok I'll take a video of him eating. Rob M came over yesterday to see the little guy...I think we have another potential owner ;)

He is eating lie a champ!Have you put any medication in the qt tank yet or do you wait till they are eating very well before you add it?I just got some quinine sulfate from national fish pharmacy and it seems to be pretty mild and not affecting the fish's appetite. The only downside i can see to it is you can not add prazipro with it like you can with cupramine.-Kieth

He is currently on Prazi a couple days into it. I did not want to medicate anything till I knew he was eating well and often. The prazi did not effect his eating...slowed it down a little.

He eats 3 times a day...and would eat more if I let him. He is a little pig. It is funny...he is very curious and just cruises around till I grab the cup that I feed the food with and he starts to hunt for the food...

Once I drop in the food he goes nuts (as can be seen by the video).

Good looking fish! Is that a 4" piece of white PVC? I'm just trying to judge size and it helps to have a point of reference like that PVC.

Someday I might own one, someday... certainly not any day soon.

HA! First come first serve Mark!

Hmmm.....Family vacation or new fish..... I wonder how that conversation is going to go this evening

"Dear, we can not go on our family vacation because I need to get a new fish". I have a feeling I would need a new house as well :sad1:

Grant - It is a 3" PVC and he fills only about 2/3 of it.

Mark - LOL! I have had many of those conversations :) and I lost 100% of them.

As the saying goes...there are more fish in the sea..
