ok, I suppose you are right.
on my 60, 5 gals lasts me 1.5 sometimes up to 2 weeks.
I'll go with 3 gals for now.
I am modifying the stock glass sump to create an ato fresh water reservior.

What ATO would you guys recommend for the 50? I'd like to get something now that I can run on my 20 long and swap over to the 50 when time comes to transfer.

So, im going to swap out my sca sump on my 150g. Main reason is it wont allow me to fit a 8in diameter skimmer due to the sump being too tall. I hear someone saying i told you so....name rhymes with molehatch .lol.
Will it be safe to remove one of the braces on the stand so i can remove the sump? I can take water out and rocks, but wanted to know if anyone has done this on a 150g wood stand.

I guess I'm not doing too bad then, I'm going through about 8g per week on the average on my 120g
Tunze nano is good. A actually prefer it to the 3152. I have both and the optical sensor on the 3152 malfunctions frequently and I come home to alarms going off.

I have one but will have to get a pic of it. I mean I never thought to take a pic of a rectangular piece of acrylic. LOL. There is the slightest bit of a lip to it which you can only see if looking at it a certain way and I cant see it at all looking from the front as the eurobrace hides the top and the canopy hides it as well. I just like how it stops snails and fish from getting in there...
I'm thinking of getting one too but I'm wondering if fish could get stuck on top of it between the my mesh top and the overflow cover.

I doubt it. They would have to hit it perfectly and be small enough to get in that small space. The cover sits flush to the eurobrace so you have the 1/2" of space between top of the overflow and top.
Out of everything it is the least of my worries in the tank honestly and i have a tiny australian harlequin tusk who "could" easily get in there but even if he could he could still flip around to get back off...
Maybe I'm paranoid. I've already lost a radial file fish and a cleaner wrasse in between the tiny space of the mesh top and the side of the tank itself. I don't even know how the wrasse did it. It's body was wider than the gap but I guess he must have hit it with enough speed to squeeze through. I had that wrasse for about a year. It would eat out of my hand.

I guess I look at it that I have more danger with stuff getting into the overflow (snails or fish going swimming) then I do of a fish happening to get on that small piece of acrylic. My wrasse has gone down my overflow plumbing twice before I threw the lid on and I had issues with my strainer getting clogged (which is why I removed it and the fish went swimming) So now with the top I can run strainer free with no worries about fish going for a tube ride.
Anything COULD happen. Sure, I suppose a fish could get stuck up there, but they can also find their way out of the smallest gap in your screen top or whatever you have too. Sometimes things just happen.
soulpatch - I realize it's just a square piece of acrylic. I guess my concern was how thick it is and if there's potential it could warp/bow over time making it worth my $$ or not.

It is thicker then the overflow cover and has additional acrylic on 3 sides that match up to the current overflow cover. Like I said it eats up that space so it is probably a range of 1/4-1/2". The acrylic cover itself is perhaps 1/8" I believe.
For $25 its worth it. Even a thin sheet of acrylic at 1/8" will run you $10+ and that is before you cut it and bevel the edges like SC does.
Thanks for the info. Like you said, for the price it's likely worth it. I just didn't want to be grossly disappointed once it arrived. They should just include it as part of the tank package. It'd be a nice addition.
