scared clownfish?

I own a maroon clownfish that wont leave the corner of the tank. the parameters of the tank are under control except the nitrates are a little high. The clownfish has done this ever since I introduced him to the tank. I thought he was just scared at first but its been almost 2 weeks now and he still wont leave the corner. Does anyone know why he is acting like this and is there anyway to get him to swim around the tank?

Disease is always possible, especially with newly acquired clownfish. However; hanging out in one spot is completely normal. If he's breathing heavily, has strange coloration, is clamping his fins, or other normal signs of illness then treat accordingly but it would have nothing to do specifically with the behavior you've described.

They do the exact same thing whith anemone too. It's usually refered to as hosting. There's another thread right now about a clown that hosts a magfloat cleaner. Others have had clowns that hang out (host) in a patch of algae.

Sounds like he is captive-raised...
