Schooling fish options?

rogergolf66

im an addict lol
I have had anthias and chromis r there other options? I have a 240g tank and I'm thinking about doing a large number of schooling fish. If we can't come up with anything cool I might try lik3 20 chromis

Not too many of the fish we keep truly school (think baitball), but some shoal!

I've seen pajama cardinals grouped up within the branches of a SPS...

Take a look at the dartfish - scissortail, zebra-bar, blue gudgeon. They'll form a loose aggregation in open water.

What's in there right now? If nothing, you could do 3 or 5 yellow/purple tangs.

I have 3 largish tangs and mating pair od clowns

Will look at some of them. Thx

Anthias... Chromis all come in with Urenoma and even if they don't/you cure them they will slowly kill one another off. Save the $4 per chromis and get something else

^I haven't had this experience with chromis, with urenoma or with their killing each other off, and this has included thousands of chromis over the years.

The urenoma is often a matter of how they are sourced, find a good LFS where you can observe them.

As far as killing each other off, I have found multiple feedings a day really cut down on their aggression toward one another. Even when some start spawning and aggression increases they still don't kill each other if healthy.

+1 sourcing healthy ones is key. There was a period of a year or so that every chromis that came in had Urenoma thru QM
