I just got this guy ($5) from a LFS that is going out of business. It's eating and swimming fine. Any suggestions. It looks like it will do alot better now that i have it out of the tank it was in (had quite a few damsels).

Thanks

I would just provide it with good food and water. It was probably suffering a bit from its previous environment.

Update - it is doing well. Still eating and swimming fine. Its fins don’t look as shredded and look more smooth and rounded. The dark patch seems to be receding.

glad to hear that, i hope all goes well and i like those tangs they are not talked about to much, and for 5 dolars you cant beat that, petco had them the other day for 12$

Update - The tang is starting to get ich. I am afraid i am going to have to kill it as i dont think he will last long enough to cycle a quarantine tank, and i do not want it transfered to my other fish. any suggestions?

If that fish is already in the display, it is too late to stop it from potentially infesting the other fish.

You can jump start a quarantine tank using Marineland's Bio-Spira.

Great News!! (atleast for now)

I freshwater dipped all the fish in the tank. I dipped the tang for 8min and my clowns for 4min. They are all looking great. The tang does not have any ich on it right now.

Now i am taking all preventative measures though. dropping salinity (FO tank), soaking food in garlic, feed small pieces of garlic, slowed down my UV. Hopefully i can kick this thing.
