Temps have been running high, so I'm hopefully getting a chiller tomorrow. I'm in Florida and our weather is so unpredictable.. We had a "cold" snap 3 weeks ago and it was high 60's or so, but this weeks was back in the high 80's. I can't be leaving my tank susceptible to these high temps anymore, had to bite the bullet..
Magnesium is apparently running around 1600-1650.. That shouldn't cause any ill effects right? I read about people bringing it up this high on purpose with kent tech m to control bryopsis problems or something. Any reason why I should lower it ?
Was able to get some pics of a cleaner shrimp spawn. All pumps were shut down to snap the pictures, and flashlight at the surface to group them. They spawn about every 2 weeks but I can never catch them when it happens, was lucky this time. The shrimp you see isn't the one that spawned, she's tucked in the rocks getting ready for her molt. The adult shrimp that you do see here is actually eating the babies..
Hey. No not this time. I don't know enough about it yet to try They spawn a couple times a month though so I'll have many other chances. I did watch the corals eat the fry till about 4:00 a.m. though, that was a sight to see.
Hello everyone - Came by to see my thread pics, but the pics aren't working on this comp for some reason? The present knews folks is, I sold all my livestock and converted to freshwater because the reef was taking too much of my time from the wife and kids! The tanks are currently finishing thier freshwater cycle and will be planted livebearer tanks
I'll continue on this thread during my planted freshwater journey everyone! Thank you
Howdy Reef Central. It's been about 6 years out of the reefing scene. I'm happy reef central keeps these threads available. It's nice to go back and read my own journey from years back. Well, I am filling a Red Sea C130 this week, so you'll be hearing from me regularly I hope everyone's had great luck with their systems, and hopefully not many have quit since I've been gone. Hope to hear from all you oldies again.
