Alright so heres my 10 gallon tank. Its very basic in its operation. Nothing specail making it tick.

Water movement is all done by a pengiun 100 filter and a maxi jet 600 connected to a saline solutions skimmer. The filter sometimes is also used for different media's carbon etc.

Lighting- The light that sits atop the tank is a aqualight 150 watt DEMH at 20k. the bulb is about a year and a bit old now so its burning in a lower kalvin rating probably around 13k (my guess by the colour thats given off) I'll be changing it as soon as i have the money to do so.

Water parameters etc. The temp in the tank fluctuates quite a bit through the day as there is no heater on the tank. At night the water go's as low as 78 and in the day/ when the lights on as high as 82. I dont see much a point in getting a heater as this has worked for me for soooo long. The No3 are less than 20ppm. I cant get them to zero but thats not a problem as zoo's etc dont really care that much. In fact i've heard that they grow quicker in slighty dirtyer water. no2 nh4 are at zero. alk with in respectable reef conditions. My water is very nutrient rich.

Critters. The tank houses a few blue leg hermits, a red leg hermit. 1000's of flatworms, tones of pods. A spotted mandarin. various types of zoos, rics, (2) brains, (1)hammer, (3) blatomussa's both varieties.
*The bulk of my stock was bought in rough condition at a low price

very nice. I love the zoos. I'm going to pile mine FULL OF EM'. LOL. I always like to leave ONE piece of constructive criticism. Lose the background. hehe. That's all. Other than that. VERY NICE!!!!!!

BTW, hows the mandarin? Is he fat and healthy. I have one in my 55g with 100lb of LR. I was always told they needed A LOT of LR, but i may be mistaken. They may just need a very established tank with lots of pods. Which it looks like you should have. Again, nice tank!!!

Ya it is recommended that they should be in big tanks with alot of rock and pods. Thing is most large tanks have other fish in them and no matter what the fish is its going to affect the pod population. My 10 gallon is very small comparatively but it has by far more pods and flatworms that my 65. Another thing about keeping them in small tanks, stack the rock so there are small holes and spaces where the mandarin cannot get. These areas will be breeding ground for pods etc. and yes hes very fat, in fact with in 30 seconds of being in the tank he started picking at the flatworms and to think i was worried that he might not eat them. anyways if the tank runs out of food i always have other tanks to put him in and i plan on setting up a decent sized refugium on my 65 (that'll help feed my seahorse better).

the brain actually used to be 10 times better to. I put it in this tank months ago when i thought it was going to die, it was that or toss it. It had shriveled up and had change fairly white. I had a fish that would always lay on it and pick at it. thats what caused all this. I just hope it gets back to its former glory. You can see it pretty much dead center of the tank.>>>>>>>>>>
