Scratching with no other signs

Hello,
ok so a friends tang [powder blue] has gone through prazi, it had flukes as well I think as the fish looked ALOT better after prazi treatment.

but now my friend is reporting that the fish is scratching off of rocks. but I checked it last night and no visible signs of disease . maybe some discolouration. [which could be due to prazi and fish not eating as well as it should]

what diseases could he be dealing with now ? only sign is scratching against rocks.

How many rounds of prazi has the fish gone through? It usually takes 2-3 rounds to completely eliminate flukes, since eggs take time to hatch. I've also seen cases where the fish continues scratching even after successful prazi treatment, because flukes leave scars that itch until they heal. I would wait for another couple of days to see if he is still scratching.

I would also put the tang through cupramine as well, after he gains his appetite back of course.

Did your friend treat with two rounds of Prazi? You have to do the second dose, 5-7 days after the first, or there's a chance of reinfection from eggs the 1st round didn't kill.

Scratching can also mean Ich. Or sometimes it's just "phantom symptoms" from damage already done and the fish will continue to scratch until all the scar tissue has healed (for example).

yes possible, he just finished the first round of prazi 2 days ago. so did I lol

thanks, gonna do a second round next week after they get fat.

I think my LFS has some Fluke Issues going on ... every fish me and my friends have got has flukes... [or maybe its me as I buy the fish and give it to these guys lol ] guess I should flush my QTs

+1000

Run at least two sessions of Prazi, include one week of Metro as well.

Follow with 4 -6 weeks of Cupramine.

no I couldnt see any other signs.

it was shaking head once in a while before treatment.

I am not familiar with Metro though, any links or info ?
