ralphie16,
When I was seventeen, my best friend and I bought used SCUBA gear and just went diving. No instruction, no one to get advice from, nothing, just go diving. It was in WI freshwater lakes and seldom below 50ft. At 21 I got married and had to give up some "things" and the SCUBA gear went. Being certified wasn't even thought of back then.
Fast forward to the present, 48 years later, I'm now 69 years young, thinking I'm 19, and decided to get back into SCUBA diving now that I live in FL. Just finished my classes and now a Certified Open Water Diver. It feels good!!!
Trust me when I tell you to get certified before going on vacation. Take the PADI course from reliable certified instructors. I learned there's more to SCUBA diving than a newbee might think. It's all about safety, learning what to do in an emergency and practicing life saving skills in an underwater environment. It's different than you think!!!
What I did at 17 was dangerous and foolish. We were not aware of the dangers and got lucky. Don't trust your life to luck. Get Certified, learn the skills and have fun.
xxaquanutxx, Envey, envey, envey!
