Scuba Or Snorkeling on West Coast FLA

Hello I plan on going down to Ft Myers / Capecoral / Naples Florida a couple of times during the year.

I am very interested in Scuba / Snorkeling. I have never done it before so I don't know much about it.

Are there any good areas out there? / How much does it normally cost?

My Uncle has a boat down there are there any good spots to snorkle off the boat?

Thanks :D

With the bad outbreak of red tide in that area recently I wouldn't expect much. You would do better to head over to the east coast or the keys.

Even after the hurricane that just hit? I will be going sometime during the year it dosent have to be any time soon.

I obviously wouldn't go right after a storm of any kind. I'll be going down again this weekend, but I don't expect much. I'll be real surprised if the vis is 5'. Wait for things to calm down for a few weeks.

Good luck.

hey breaker how has sebastian been?
Last weekend, before the storm was excellent. The best snorkeling of the entire summer so far. If I get a chance I;m probably go again today, Labor Day. I;ll let you know how it is.

Just got back from the ijlet and I was pleasantly surprised. Even thought the the water vis wasn't as good as last weekend it wasn't that terrible either. After chasing it all over the place I can't believe my luck I caught a juvinile hog fish. Which is a dark red color. I also caught a slipper dick wrass. If you want to see a picture of the fish I caught, and you have a copy of Humann and Deloach Reef Fish Identification, go to pag 213 to the picture of the juvinile hogfish. Looking at his potential size it's needless to say that he is a very temporary guest.
