SCWD problems

Well i finished my closed loop on a 10g running on a mag 3. The SCWD was working beutifully switching every 8-10 seconds. After about 2 hours it stopped switching... :( I got it from a local reefer who had it sitting around(brand new) I know some people have had the same problem, anyone know a way to get it working again? Help apreciated. thanks

Do you have a pre-filter on your intake? My guess is something got clogged in the gearing. I'd take it apart and try to flush it out with high pressure, or you could try to soak it in vinegar overnight.

cant be clogged, i figured i would run the tank with just water(not even salt water) for a good week to check for leaks because it was my first try at plumbing, figured i would have at least 1 leak. So there is absolutely nothing in the tank but RO water...

Can't say I know then, that doesn't make sense to me. No sand in your tank either? Either way I'd still try to flush it out with high pressure water. If you take it off your CL, flush the two outputs/ends also. I've run a SCWD on my tank for more than a year now with no problems at all. Every six months or so I would take it down and soak it in vinegar to disolve Ca buildups.

A lot of folks have had problems with the SQWD right out of the box. Mine is sitting in the parts box right now.
