I don't think they are hard to keep, its just that if they become stressed they can release a toxin that can wipe out the entire tank. Also, I believe the stress that causes them to release the toxin is from things like fish nipping at it, or rocks falling on it. I don't know how sensitive they are to poor water conditions and wheather that can cause it to release the toxin. They are definitely cool creatures!
